Welcome to ‘Ice Bubbles’

Few people will ever see an Ice Bubble. For over a decade I’ve photographed these fleeting winter miracles before they disappear forever. ‍ ‍

“What are ‘Ice Bubbles’ by Jill Greer?”

‘Ice Bubbles’ are fleeting works of nature - fragile ice sculptures created in a single moment of winter. On the coldest Minnesota days, a simple soap bubble blown into below - freezing air begins to transform. Delicate ice crystals grow across its surface, creating intricate patterns that exist for a brief moment in time before the bubble disappears. For years, I have photographed these extraordinary frozen moments, preserving the beauty of something that can never be recreated.

About Jill

An Ice Bubble exists for only a moment on a cold Minnesota day, but my photographs preserve it for a lifetime.

I’m Jill Greer, a photographer drawn to mornings at 20 degrees below zero - when the magic reveals itself, and I can capture the fleeting beauty of these frozen wonders.

A person in winter clothing, including a beanie and a coat with fur-lined hood, is looking through a camera mounted on a tripod outside on a snowy day. There are snow-covered trees and a house exterior in the background, and sunlight is creating a rainbow flare across the image.
